Drop Box in the Cloud

A friend of mine sent me this website via gchat.  It’s a way to manage files over multiple computers.  Drop Box links to your email address and you can drop files and folders and then link other computers up to the drop box.  The 2 MB drop box is free with monthly charges for larger boxes.  There are also public folders for collaborative projects (this could be used instead of say, Google Wave, which I will be posting some screencasts of ‘how to’ later in the week).

I am curious if anyone knows who the parent company of this product is or if it’s a start-up.
